Establishment of the Library [ June 1978 ]

 

History of the KMR Library:

In the June 1978 College was established in remote area of Sahyadri valley in Karad tehsil. After the establishment of science faculty in 1978. The college library was setup in 1978. Our College library plays an important role in educational process of the institution. Library is valuable resources for students, staff, researchers etc. The library has build a valuable collection of 32817 books (including Junior, Senior) 663 bounds volume, current subscription of 18 journals, 09 newspapers (Marathi, Hindi & English). 40 CDs. We have subscribed membership of N-list INFLIBNET with the facility of 1,99,500 + e-books & 6000 + E-journals.

The library spread over the area of 2600 sq. ft. with stack room, reading room, internet, and reference, periodical. Our College Library performs a variety of functions by the way of collecting information, processing and retrieving the relevant information, which is helpful to the students and faculty with text books, reference books and journals, as well as by maintaining an efficient reference and information service, providing Internet facility and Multimedia facility.

Book Bank Scheme: - The College has a Book Bank Scheme run by the Students Mutual Aid Fund for the economically backward & needy students. A set of text books are provided to the students to be used in the academic year, and returned after the completion final examination.

 

Computerization of the Library: -The computerization of the library is completed. The Library is using ‘LIB-MAN’ Software developed byMaster soft ERP Solutions Pvt., Nagpur Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) and M-OPAC (Mobile based OPAC APP) provides access to the bibliographic database. The bar-coding work of books and members is completed and we will provide the facility of computerized circulation. The library has Visitor management facility for visitors and Borrower Check In/out computerized system. Internet facility is available to students for educational purpose.

Library Membership

College library members include all teaching staff, students, administrative staff, external students, researchers, institution alumni, staff from the other colleges and management members. The library fee and deposit for students is as per university guidelines. The rules are framed with relation to membership circulation and other services. These rules are framed to help and promote library resources and services. Rules are displayed on notice board time to time.

Library Rules

  1. Students can get 1 library book on 1 library borrow cards for a week.
  2. Renewal of the books will depend on availability and requirement of the same by others.
  3. Loss of I-Card/Borrower cards should be reported to the librarian immediately.
  4. Issuing of duplicate I-card as well as Borrower cards will be made against due charges.
  5. Students can avail the facility of reference books / journals / periodicals within the library premises only against I-cards.
  6. A fine of Rs.1 will be charged per day on late return of books issued on library borrower cards.
  7. Use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited inside the library.
  8. On loss of library book, user shall replace the same with a brand new copy or pay the amount decided by the library committee.
  9. Students should enter their name in the Entry register.
  10. Borrower’s card & I-Card is not transferable.
  11. Complete silence should be maintained. Group discussions, lectures are not allowed in library.
  12. Difficulties if any should be discussed with the librarian.
  13. Eatables are not allowed in library.
